A quick three points, first of all:
- Yes I’m spelling it spiraliser. I’m British and z’s in words bring me out in a rash!
- I nearly didn’t write this, as it seems that spiraliser recipes are EVERYWHERE at the moment, but then 3 friends in a row hadn’t even heard of a spiraliser* (so I thought it was my duty to change that)
- I may be slightly biased, but my spiraliser recipes (that aren’t ALL courgette/zucchini) are awesome!
*If you haven’t either I will forgive you, just keep reading…
What the hell is a spiraliser?
It’s another piece of kitchen equipment, which I originally turned my nose up at thinking, “the last thing I need is another bl*ody kitchen gadget cluttering up the kitchen”.
Finally, curiosity got the better of me and I bought one about a year ago. I still haven’t got fed up of it (I admit it, my mum was right about the Mr Frosty machine when I was a child, but not the spiraliser. High five to me!). I use it every week without fail. It’s awesome!
Basically, it’s a white plastic contraption which turns rather dull veg into fantastic curly, spirally, noodley wonders. You just pop your veg in, turn the handle and out they come.
When my mum visits, she has even taken to bringing veg to spiralise to take home. It won’t be long before she crumbles and buys one* I’m sure!
Enough already, what are the recipes?
Ok, I did go on for a while didn’t I? Here are the goodies you’ve been waiting for.
But, one last thing beforehand, I just want to mention how this makes it so easy to replace nutrient lacking carbohydrates and replace them with nutrient dense powerhouses, whilst increasing the veg you’re eating. Bonus! If you want to read more about this check out this article which give the low down on the poor misunderstood carbohydrate.
